A Cherished Treasure
We have dignity.
We have our minds, our dreams, and our past.
When you look at us,
See beyond our old bodies.
Look into our eyes,
Our eyes show who we are.
We still live for our future.
We just breathe at a different pace.
Our days are slow,
But never forget, we still value life as you do.
Have patience,
Do not pass us up.
Never take for granted the wealth
Of experiences we hold.
For our greatest pleasure is sharing
Because what we share with you is priceless.
Making you laugh is our gift.
We have gone through what you have not.
We have given just like you do now.
We were like you at one time.
Now older, we see life in a different way.
Everything has changed, but we still have to give.
Don’t mistake us as finished.
But as a cherished treasure
To hold on to.
Till it is time to go.
