Walking in the
Footsteps of Faith
A Collection of Spiritual Poetry

Antonia S. Murguia

Poetry that touches the heart of spiritual living through the footsteps of human experiences.  Highlighted within its pages are the triumphs and struggles of a quest to experience God's true love, forgiveness, compassion, and blessings.

Be Still and Know

Be Still,
from the hurricane of obligations,
from the sea of endless faces                      requesting your presence.

Be Still,
        from the mirage of worries,
        from the rushing of getting
           everything done.
Be Still,
        Stop and take refuge,
           from your ordinary existence.
               Let yourself be guiltless
                   to gather energy,
                   to experience solitude,
                   to renew your soul.
Be Still,
I have always been with you.
I have never left your side.
I am always patiently waiting for you
           to whisper your petitions,
           to ask for My Grace,
           to seek My Guidance.
Be Still,
And know that I am God.

Without Wavering

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith,
without wavering.
              Hebrew 10:23

Without wavering is the difficult part,
Hearing perspectives,
Arguments as to why others are different
Makes us think twice, bringing doubt,
This is where we go wrong.
We must trust the foundation of our faith.
We must truly believe in what we know to be.
For without our beliefs,
We will only be lost souls
Aimlessly wandering, searching,
Never to be happy.
You know what you believe in.
It is what makes sense.
Do not doubt what you know
To be true in your heart.
Without wavering,
We must be without wavering.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith,
For He is the Truth.

I Did Not Know This Love

I love You
In a way I did not know.
This new love,
A new beginning,
A new place I see.
A strength given to me
Through the forces
Places before me.

A compassionate love
That brings me peace.
A faith revealed.
Shine Your Light on me.

I love You
In a way I did not know.
Speak to me so that
I may always know this love,
For my soul has been set free.

Guide me now,
This freedom is exhilarating.
Shine Your Light on me.

Searching

I searched for an opening,
A welcome sign
To come into Your heart,
To sit comfortably in Your presence.

I wanted to sit with You in my favorite place,
And just pass the time.
Have a Coke or something,
Talk about this or that.

I wanted to explain all my wrongs
And ask for Your forgiveness.
I wanted to share my hopes and dreams.
I wanted to put my arms around You
And just be still.

I searched for an opening,
A welcome sign
To come into Your heart,
To sit comfortably in Your presence.

I know there are so many others
Who need You more.
I know I should not waste Your time,
But as I turn to leave,
You call my name and say,
"Come, come sit with me.
"

Dance, Dance
To Praise His Name

Refrain
Dance, dance to praise His Name.
Let the music echo throughout each day.
His glory must be proclaimed!

Verses
A song of celebration to dance and rejoice,
With loud voices we sing
About a faithful love that will always be.

Our guitars, our drums, our violins
Making sweet music to the Lord.
Singing and dancing to glorify the Holy One.

We shall please Him with our faith.
We shall follow the dance of His Gospel.
Dance, Dance, to praise His Name.

His love is everlasting.
Forever we shall sing His praise.
For He is our God.
