Over the years, she had witnessed many things.
Things that had broken her heart,
Things that had made her feel helpless.
She had seen her parents and grandparents struggle.
She could barely afford the little house she lived in.
She dreamed of better opportunities for her children
And she needed a better job,
But she saw no means of improvement.
Prayer was her only salvation; prayer brought her hope.
A myriad of pleasure lavished her heart.
Her breathe caught in deep sighs.
Today, today her prayers would be answered!
Never had she felt such exhilaration. Never!
A new president that promised change,
A new president she could believed in.
She knew his promise was real.
She knew he would be her courage for the future.
She watched his inaugaration with tears in her eyes.
And although her grandmother was not with her,
She felt her promised words,
"One day, we will have hope again."
She whispered, "Yes grandmother, today is that day!"
